MUSEUM BASED COUSRSE

Myths Monsters and Masterpieces

Childrens short courses

Myths, monsters and masterpieces

This rocking 4 week course will will take your children on a remarkable journey through art from the Ancient world to the 1800's! We will look at the art, chat about it and make some of our own!

We will show them some gems in the Asian Art Museum, the Legion of Honor ( a couple of times)  and the deYoung. And help them build their own personal art time lines with our Look Closer at Art kit (a mighty little box jam packed with all the tools you need to connect through art and decode all that you see).

This short series of interactive tours is designed to help children build personal connections and enjoy shared experiences with art and each other. Expect them to begin to learn how to look at art, talk about art, identify art and bring home some new things to share with the family.

This beginners course is designed for all ages. Our program builds on the Common Core and our guides use proven engagement techniques to make sure your child gets the most out of this enrichment opportunity.

LOOK CLOSER AT ART

10 WEEKS ENRICHMENT

10 WEEKS OF ART AND ART HISTORY

CHILDRENS COURSES

LOOK CLOSER AT ART 10 WEEK (TEENS AND TWEENS) ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

Go deeper and further with us on a remarkable journey through art from the Ancient to the Contemporary. This 10 week course is a blend of classroom instruction, games and field trips (Asian Art Museum, Legion of Honor, deYoung Museum and SFMoma ) that can be adapted to suit all learning groups. Our educators can come to your classroom with a partnership program that works around your needs as a group. Whilst field trips to museums are an integral part of what we offer these can happen every other week or once during your 10 week course.

This 10 week course gives children many opportunities to connect with and through art. We help them build their own personal connections to art, from around the world, through our hands on time line exercises in our Look Closer at Art kit. We also carefully select local art works to study that help children learn how to look at art, talk about art, identify art and bring home some new things to share with the family.

Our program builds on the Common Core and our guides use proven engagement techniques to make sure your child gets the most out of this enrichment opportunity.

We also offer a parent education event  ( Look Closer at Art Workshop)  with this course to build bridges between school and home, build community and empower parents to take their children to see art.
